Welcome to Outer Aberdeen CP

At last summer has arrived and cats, as we know, love being out enjoying themselves in the warm weather, as do we. In recent years, we are more aware of the dangers to our skin of being out in the sun unprotected. So what do we do - we go outside, its very hot, so we put on sunblock to stop overselves burning. There you are, protected from the heat, enjoying the weather, maybe reading a book or pottering in the garden, and your cat is beside you purring. But cats, like us, can burn in strong sun, particulary those that are pale or white.

If you have a pale coloured or white cat, make sure that they have sunblock on their ears and nose, which are the two areas most likely to burn. As cats wash themselves often, use a waterproof, non-toxic sunscreen and reapply the cream throughout the day. Your vet will advise you on the most suitable cream to use. As like us humans, cats unprotected from the sun can suffer from skin cancers, so please consider your cat too in this weather so that he or she, can be healthy like Casper, our July pin up puss.

Over the last few weeks several of our cats in care have moved on which were are naturally delighted about. Of course we still have many cats looking for their purrfect partner/s. Our Home a Cat page is always up to date and you may find one, or even two, cats there that you would love to take into your home. We have some new additions, we have eight cats from one household who are looking for a new home, many of these are older cats. We also have Dod, Coliemoley, Spot and Poppet, again older cats looking for a new home. Do consider a mature cat, I have one that came to live with me aged 15 and she's now 18 and bright as a button.

We also have some young cats in need of a home - have a look on the homing page at Simba, and also Buzz, both are under a year old. And of course Cole, who came in as a stray, he's a lovely boy and now one of our long term residents. If you are looking for some outdoor cats, we also have Burma, Tonka, Greebo and their mum, Polka, who have been with us for some time.

We are still looking for a new home for Millie, a 14 year young diabetic tortie. Millie's story is on our feature page. Also on our second feature page is Frodo who is telling everyone about himself and looking for that very special person to take care of him.  Frodo is very shy and nervous, but do please read about him.  He's come on wonderfully while being in foster care, and a quote I remember from several years ago when I took on a nervous and very scared cat from CP - "he just wants somebody to love him".   All of us who know Frodo would be delighted for him to find his forever home.

Once again, please look at our cats on the Lost and Found pages. You may recognise one of them who may be in your area and can help reunite a missing cat with their owner.
